This template, from a webinar hosted by District 4 and Corma GmbH, covers integrating and verifying deep and dark web data through a case study of Jan Marsalek, Interpol’s Most Wanted and an alleged Russian spy behind a €1.9 billion fraud. It helps investigators integrate Darkside data into Obsidian, using tools like bidirectional linking and markdown.

These instructions explain how to set up and use the Obsidian template provided.
Step 1: Extract the ZIP file
Extract the ZIP file to a location on your computer.
It is recommended that you also create a backup copy of the unzipped files so that you can use the template again later.
Step 2: Open the vault in Obsidian
1. If you have not already done so, install Obsidian from the official website (obsidian.md).
2. Start Obsidian.
3. Click on "Open folder as vault."
4. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the template and select it.
5. Click "Open."
6. You will see a pop-up box titled the following "Do you trust the author of this vault" and click on "Trust author and enable plugins"button or activate "Community Plugins" as explained below.
Step 3: Activate community plugins
1. Click on the settings icon (gear wheel) in the bottom left corner.
2. Select "Community Plugins" in the sidebar.
3. Activate "Community Plugins" using the "Turn on community plugins" switch.
4. Confirm the security warning with "I understand the risks".
5. The plugins included in the template will then be displayed. Activate them by clicking on "Activate" for each plugin.
Important notes
1. A vault is simply a folder on your device where all Obsidian files are stored.
You can always use a fresh copy of the template by copying the backup to a new location and opening it as a new vault.
2. Plugins enhance Obsidian's functionality but may impact performance. We recommend installing only the plugins that you need.
3. To ensure data synchronization across multiple devices, consider utilizing Obsidian Sync (a paid add-on) or cloud services such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
